Ezethu Tours is a 100% black and owner-managed business. Sithembiso, the managing member joined tourism after a stint of 13 years in teaching. Having won numerous awards in recognition of his contribution to science education, he felt a need for change. Being an outdoor and avid traveller, moving into tourism was a natural thing. Upon his resignation from the teaching profession in 2004, he did a refresher course in tourist guiding as well a tour operating course to prepare for the new chosen career.

Since our inception our company has always sought to be a leader in offering services that put the customer at the centre of everything we do. Hence we have won recognition for our efforts. Among our achievements is to be one of the first 14 companies in the whole country to receive The Putting the Customer First accreditation. We became semi-finalists in the ETEYA (Emerging Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Awards) in 2006 and 2009. More than 80% of our business is repeat business. Whatever products we have developed, was informed by our customers.

Our guides are selected carefully considering people who will add value to making our customers' experience a memorable one. We have guides that speak English, Afrikaans, German, Italian and French. We are members of SATSA and Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism complying with all legal requirements of the industry. Our vehicles undergo safety checks and maintainance on a regular basis.

Our company is involved in a number of community projects. We see ourselves as facilitators of community development. We are involved with Imbewu Project South Africa. They are an NGO based in Port Elizabeth offering Health, Education and Sport Programmes to children orphaned by HIV & AIDS in the townships of Port Elizabeth. Another project that we are involved with is the building of a multi-media centre at Mzomncane Primary School in Zwide Township. We are assisting them to access funding for the networking of their computers as well as buying books for their library. We donated stationery and school bags to about 40 orphans in 2010. We are also sponsoring several high school learners to undertake excursions around the city through" Be a tourist in your own town "campaign.
